Last year, we hatched more turkeys! We did not get them from the store this time, but we actualy hatched them from eggs from our own turkeys (See: 21 tiny turkeys). And now, this year, those turkeys are starting to lay eggs! Turkey eggs look like duck eggs, with about the same size and color, but our turkeys lay speckled eggs. We also have a turkey that’s egg somehow got into the pasture (See: The next post I put out), and we think it is a wild turkey, and are also quite certain that it is a tom. The eggs tast literaly the same as any eggs- if any difference in ANY eggs, it would be the texture when cooked!
MultiFlora Rose Hips
Did you know that multiflora, an invasive, prickly plant, is in the rose family? That means that they have rose hips! The rose hips are mostly seeds, but there is also some fruit in it which tastes a bit citrus-y. You can even make jam out of it, which is what we did! We put a lot of them into simmering water for a LONG time, and then strained the seeds out and let the liquid cool! After that, we added some sugar, and now it tastes really good!
We have a new cat! He is called Dumplin’, and he is also Patches kitten, so he is Ash’s brother (Or at least half-brother)! He was born in March, and Ash did not really like him that much… But then Fritter disappeared ( We do not know why, and we have not seen him again…) and then they started playing together, and now they purr at each other, play with each other, and even sometimes groom each other (And then try to bite each other’s heads off. Playfully, of course.)!
